The head of Dionysos with almond-shaped eyes, a strong nose and a small mouth with pursed lips.
The broad beard with fine wavy strands. Undulated, slender moustache. The hairdo with strands of hair that end in curls, without the hair band above. Traces of red (carmine) pigment on the forehead and the beard.
Fine archaic style, excellent modeling. Mounted on an acrylic stand.

This is a bronze Scythian brooch from an ancient Eurasian Steppe culture dating back to the 6th-4th Century B.C. The brooch is shaped like a recumbent deer, with a slender body and pronounced musculature. Ancient Greek Cypriot bronze tanged dagger or spear blade from the Bronze Age, dating back to circa 2500-1600 B.C. This is a socketed iron spear from the ancient middle east. This was part of a lot including Bactrian and Luristan artifacts. I do not have an exact cultural attribution for this piece but it is similar to pieces from northern iran in the early part of the first millenium BC. It is 39 cm long and weighs 316 grams. It is intact with no evidence of repair.

Unguentaria are small ceramic or glass bottles frequently found in burial contexts. Their most common use was probably as a container for oil. The unguentarium is sometimes referred to as lacrimarium (tear-container) or balsamarium (balsam-container). All three terms reflect different assumptions about their use.

This lamp was made as an 'imitation' of the metal lamps of the period, but in pottery for the lower classes!

An early, and thus rare, intact pottery figure of a lady with raised arms, Greek, likely South-Italian workshop, ca. 4th. century BC.

Attractive mouldmade figure of a lady with raised arms and likely dancing; She has an alaborate hairstyle and is wearing a finely draped gown.

Size: 13 cm. tall.

Condition: Nearly Superb! Perfectly preserved, an unimportant surface chip to the glaze at the base.

Black-figure depiction of naked youths with clamydes that cover their shoulders and bystanders clad in cloaks. All figures hold spears.
The scene is framed with ivy garlands on the sides and buds alternating with dots on the marked shoulder. A row of tongues emerge from the ridged junction to the neck.
Applied red on the outer edge of the rim and the sideward rotelles, the ridged junction to the neck, the garments and the fillet of one youth...

Black-glazed Apulian plate of shallow floor with three stamped palmettes at center. The flat lip, slightly curved on top.
Standing on a low foot in two degrees. Faint imprint from the foot of another dish on the floor.
Covered with a fine black glaze. The expert modeling and the application of a glossy black glaze suggest that the plate was inspired by metal examples.

Attic red-figure askos decorated with a wild goat and a lion on the domed top.
The goat springs to right and is seen with one foreleg raised. On the facing side the body of a lion, in a crouched, ready to jump position. The combination of wild goat and lion is rare.

The head of the lion, the small flaring spout and part of the overarching handle are missing.
