A wonderful mounted fragment of a ceramic wall tile depicting a Maenad and a Satyr, Etruscan, 5th.-4th. cent. BC.

The piece in very thick stoneware with a high relief.

Size: 21,3 x 18,5 cm. as mounted.

Provenance: Private Collection of Bjørn De Roepstorff, an important Danish castle / mansion collection. The family lived in Italy in the 1970s and bought a few antiquities, like this nice relief.

A large greek terracotta figure of a high born Lady standing on a high base, Greek/South Italy, 4th-3rd century B.C.

The bust depicts a lady with a fine gown swept on and she holds it with her right hand. The left hand carries something over her right shoulder. She wears a large headress or crown.

Size: 24 cm. tall.

Condition: Choice and completely intact with remains of pigment and patina.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this splendid Gnathian Greek kylix. This is an excellent example that features the standard grape design on the sides with a floral in the center. The highlight is the beautifully formed pair of delicately formed handles. The kylix remains in choice condition with only professional repair to the base and one handle and no overpaint. The artist creates a mix-up with the different teams – the leading horses appear on the foreground while their charioteer is hidden behind the following team.

Wearing an elaborate crested Corinthian helmet, wearing a sleeveless chiton, scaled breast plate, and aegis with Gorgon’s head. 1st Century BC/1st Century AD, 3 inches high. Mounted. From an old New Jersey private collection, purchased on the NYC art market in the early 1980s.

Full-bodied young bovine standing on short legs. The massive head with short horns, protruding eyes and bulging muzzle. Skin folds around the neck, tail indicated.

The lid of the lekanis features palmette design with a lady of fashion and a banded design around the base. Both handles remain intact and the piece measures 9cm high x 18cm in diameter. Greece, 4th Century B.C.
