The name means ‘The pleasant North-wind

During the evacuation of the Bab el Gasus cache, Bouriant registered Mehunedjem on his shabtis list...

The lid decorated on both sides with a winged Eros seated on a rock and facing left. One figure holds up a mirror with his right hand, the other carries a dish with double hooks, a sash suspended underneath. Flowers in the field.
One Eros wears a kekryphalos with a bun at rear, the other a pointed cap. Both carry earrings, necklaces, bracelets, strings of beads around the chest, the left thigh and anklet, as well as sandals.
The figures are separated by palmettes...

Attic black-figure band cup decorated with a lotus and palmette chain. The reserved tondo with concentric circles, a reserved band close to the inner face of the rim.
The gently rounded floor with a barely offset lip and upturned handles.

Reportedly found near Antioch.

Winged Deity, probably Ashur tending the Tree of Life, interesting symbols. Stylized scarab carved in an attractive black stone.

Wonderful birdhead-shaped stamp seal in a glossy green hardstone (rare!), Syro-Levantine part of Mesopotamia, probably 5th. mill. BC.

A pre-historic / Neolithic seal carved with a fine grit pattern in the base, the form of the seal itself as a stylized birds head.

Size: 28 mm. wide and 18 mm. tall.

The attractive upperparts of two larger figural pendant of Pataikos and Shu, Late Period, 7th.-3rd. century BC.

Detailed faience of good colour.

Size: 35-37 mm. tall.

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian. Comes with COA.

A choice example of a of a large Wadj Sceptre in brown hardstone, with the stone aiming to imitate rolled papyrus.

The scroll is widest at the top, where there is a neck below the faux loop for suspension. The base tapers into a softened point. Such an amulet would have been for ritual buriel.

Size: c. 32 mm.

Condition: good very fine and intact.

Substantial seal carved and finely polished in a beautiful diorite hardstone, very popular and scarce in antiquitiy and used extensively by the Egyptians. A black hardstone with white inclusions. The seal in the gable of scaraboid shape and with the preffered carvings of globular patterns of the Uruk period stamp seals of Mesopotamia.

A lovely green hardstone amulet in the form of a double ostrich feather, probably New Kingdom, 16th.-11th. century BC.

The front is flat with a shallow central groove delineating the two plumes.

A fine Grecco -Persian bronze spearhead, later 1st mill BC.

The blade with slim shoulders and central midrib. The sharp edges of the blade slope into a long, folded conical socket with an opening at the back and a straight.

Size: 34,5 cm - socket is about 18 cm.

Condition: Choice - cleaned somewhat hard, but still with nice red and green patina, as shown on photos.

A superb condition beige hardstone stamp seal, Cilicia / Levante, c. 1200-800 BC.

The seal expertly carved and polished into it's present perfect pyramidal shape and carved in the base with a bird. Beautiful stone used.
