Rare terracotta group with a rat and two mice seen side by side gnawing on the bait of a mousetrap.
According to Pedrizet perhaps an ex-voto offered by a person whose house or granary was infested with mice and rats.

Roman bronze eagle standing with outspread wings on the head of an antelope. The eagle is modeled in the round, tail and wing feathers are engraved. The head of the prey is worked as an attachment.
The eagle on the antelope head is associated to the worship of Jupiter Dolichenus, whose syncretic mystery cult was widespread among Roman soldiers since the time of Vespasian.

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.
Large-sized heads of Serapis are relatively rare...

Attic red-figure askos decorated with a wild goat and a lion on the domed top.
The goat springs to right and is seen with one foreleg raised. On the facing side the body of a lion, in a crouched, ready to jump position. The combination of wild goat and lion is rare.

Carefully polished impasto ware amphora of biconical shape. The handles span from the slightly flared mouth to the shoulder.
The shoulder area enhanced with molded ridges.
Hand-built dark brown impasto with carefully smoothed surface. Dendrite-like deposits.

Rare alabastron of conical shape and flat base, disk mouth and strap handle.
Decorated with brown and reddish bands around the body. Near the bottom a reserved band with hooks (stylized running dogs). Brown tongues on neck and collar, brown bars on the handle.
Similar to the Egg of Columbus, this type of flat-bottomed alabastron needs no additional support to stand upright.
The rarity of Columbus alabastra is noteworthy.

Etruscan kyathos of shallow form showing a frieze of subtle vertical ribs on the prominent pronounced shoulder.
The ribbon handle with outcurving edges arches from rim to shoulder. Small, slightly incurved base.

Fine hand-modeled vessel with shallow body, rounded shoulder and short neck with slightly flared rim.
The ribbon handles arching from the rim to the edge of the shoulder. On each side applied molded ribs and a spiky knob at center.
The polished surface with traces of the modeling stick.

This excellent 19th century WKC (Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Company, Solingen, Germany) Imperial Hunting Cutlass is 22 inches in length. The mounts are composed of beautiful brass throughout the hilt and scabbard. The pommel area has a fluted nut at the top center of the cap which acts as a threaded tang nut. Conical striped alabaster mortar vessel with two handles on the upper rim. 3rd Intermediate Period, c. 1075-800 BC.

Very attractive sturdy motar in very beautiful banded stone. Finely sculptured with the twin handles and the perfect symethric shape.

Size: c. 10,4 cm. wide over the handles and c. 7 cm. tall.

Condition Intact with nice patina.
