Conventional wisdom tells us that the octagonal base is the oldest, but we're not certain, both types might be significantly older than Gear and others state...

A large and quite scarce high tinned bronze opium weight of the 20 Tical, square base, c. 1750-1780.
Interesting since this weight does not have the usual lines for the issue but instead a fine engraving with dots. Very attractive.

Condition: Beautiful ancient patina on these two!

Miniature amulet representing Buddha (probably Amitayus, holding the nectar of immortality on his lap), sitting cross-legged on two tigers. The presence of the two tigers is a very unusual and rare image of the Buddha. A loop, for attachment to a necklace, is on its top. Bronze, with encrusted green patina. An antique Nepalo-Tibetan White Tara cast in bronze with gold gilt and a ruby stone mounted on the crown. White Tara is seen as a protective deity. This is a fragment to a large shrine which included a Green Tara, central Buddha and White Tara.
