A magnificent carved Zitan scholar's rock with excellent age wear and a beautiful patina. China, 18th century. H. 16,5 cm. Condition: excellent, no damage or repair. Provenance: Dutch private collection.

This is a very fine Japanese Satsuma shallow footed bowl. As can be seen in the images the workmanship is top level. It is 4 5/8 inches across and 1 1/2 inches tall. The piece is in excellent condition.

A rare and very decorative Tang Dynasty ( 618 - 906 ) sancai glazed Jarlet. Earthenware with a four-color glaze in green, yellow, brown and creamy white. ( Normally such pieces do have a three-color glaze and it is rare to find a piece with four different colors ) Shaanxi - Henan ( Sancai ) Condition : 2 small restored chips to the rim ( nearly not visible ), further in an excellent condition with a very nice glaze. H : 4,5 cm.

Beautiful antique Chinese bamboo root vessel in pottery medicine pot. Delightful in size and with pleasing texture all over. Age: 18th Century. Size: 2.5" height x 3.5" length.

A beautifully formed earthen flask from the Bizen region, the fire-buffed side still gleaming softly while opposite it has absorbed time into the porous clay. It comes enclosed in a box titled Ko Bizen Kaijo Ko-Tokkuri, inside the lid is annotated the dimensions and the dating Momoyama Jidai no Saku (Made in the Momoyama period) signed by the great Bizen connoisseur Katsura Matasaburo. It is 6.5 cm (2-1/2 inches) diameter, 13.5 cm (5-1/4 inches) tall and in overall fine condition...

Archaic Chinese bronze bowl with rounded sides and flared rim. Cast with a ring foot. The outer body of the bowl is cast with two bands of repeating patterns interrupted by two handles, one one each side. The handles are taotie masks with loose rings. Beautiful green patination and mineral deposits.

I have seen weapons such as this one described as everything from ancient Roman, Celtic and Chinese to medieval and on and on. Though I have been unable to find much in the way of references, I am fairly certain that this spear and others like it are ceremonial polearms from the Qing Dynasty. They are most likely 18th or 19th century. They have crudely decorated brass collars between the socket and blade. This one and the three others I have listed are in good condition with no signs of repair...

This baby carrier is from the Miao ethnic minority of Qui Yang. Characteristic of the antique Miao baby carriers from this area, the surface decoration is composed of very tiny cross stitches which form geometric embroidery pattern which, to Western eyes, resemble snowflakes...

Chinese Qing dynasty bronze censer or incense burner, Xuande mark. 17 cm wide. 12 cm mouth rim diameter. 1,8 Kg weight. Censer has small spot of dent (please see on the pictures) Free from any repair.

A hanging scroll (kakejiku) attributed to Kano Masunobu (1823-1880) entitled "take suzume" (Bamboo and Sparrow) with Kiri (paulownia wood) box. Kano Masunobu, also known as Toun, was a member of the Kano School of painters who excelled in ink paintings (occasionally with the addition of pale tints) of landscapes and birds. This is personal ornaments of a horse used in the Tohoku district for Edo period. The item giving glory to a horse is called Umakake. This is dyed with a natural indigo plant and other dye. As for this, a thread spun by hand by cotton cloth is used. The influential person of the village had this type of item. In this district, the upper Tsutsugaki technology was used for the personal ornaments of the horse...

19th century wooden netsuke representing a theater mask of a man with round bulging eyes and rather insane grin. Probably the mask is that of Kentoku. Crisp detailing, wonderfully captured madness. Height 1 3/4 inches.
