Nayarit Male Drummer. 3 3/4" by 2 1/4" CA. 300 B.C. to 500 A.D. Nice intact example . Black stripping on the drum and marked with a black painted waist band.

Vera Cruz Warrior. Mexico. Circa. 600-900 A.D. 15 ¼” Hollow molded terra cotta, standing warrior with one hand raised showing an open palm. The other wields a large, trapezoidal shield and he wears a sleeveless vest, belt and a long loin cloth. With prominent teeth, sleepy eyes and a well formed nose. Restored from a dozen or so large pieces with restoration over the break lines. Rear, third, support leg reattached with visible gluing and edge losses.

Large Colima Redware, Sitting Male Figure, without a phallus. 16" x 9" x 6" Ca. 200 B.C. to 500 A.D. Significant mineral deposits overall. Repairs to the upper head and facial areas, and pelvic region. Lower body incised lines, that appear to be pants. A very nice example.

This is an extremely interesting artifact. It has quadruple imagery. The figures almost resemble a northwest totem. There is a different image when you turn the face upside down. There is also double imagery to the faces on the side...

This early South Coast textile incorporates a two-headed serpent motif, together with a human (or divine) being with arms raised high (sometimes referred to as "the oculate being," because of the prominent, bulging eyes.). Classic south coast imagery, most probably Nazca (Nasca). I included a photograph of a much later related image, dating to perhaps as much as one thousand years later, to show the continuity of the imagery. This incredible Olmec standing figure is 5 1/4 inches high (13.5cm) and 2 inches wide (5cm). It is made from beautiful opaque Olmec blue jade. The right arm was broken off in ancient times. The figure is represented in the back as transforming into a bird, with the back of the head, ears, and upper strap muscles of the figure's back forming the image of the head, eyes, and beak.
