This beautiful bronze zen temple gong was made by one of Japan's great bronze craftsman who lived from The Meiji Period (1868) through the Showa Period. Famous for the gold shachihoko bronze fish on the roof of Nagoya Castle. This gong is dated Taisho 3 (Ca.1915). The writing has the date, the maker's name and all the donors' names. Excellent condition. H:56cm; diameter 30cm.

This is Shonai Sasiko made in the Edo period. This is an item made by Sashiko craftsmen during the Edo period. And it is a very rare design sashiko. This is the work clothes that a wealthy merchant had as one of his daughter's wedding supplies. The front side is dark indigo dyeing. The back side is a blue color called hanada. There are almost no traces of use and it is in good condition. You can wear it and enjoy it...
Beautifully carved relief fragment representing the head of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, wearing a diadem on which appears a small Buddha Amithaba in meditation sitting on a lotus throne and surrounded by foliage. Avalokiteshvara has a third eye, and a necklace. Stone, with some abrasion. Gandhara Graeco-Buddhist period (1st to 5th century). Height: 18.5 cm. The head is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Late Meiji to early Taisho (1910s)) netsuke of himono (dried fish, this one appears to be salmon) on top of a woven bamboo basket. Well captured essence of the objects, beautifully realistic desiccated texture of the fish. Cursively signed on the bottom - possibly reads KAWAYUKI. Excellent sense of volume, wonderful patina. Length 2.3 inches.
