This is Sashiko used in Shounai (Yamagata) area for the Meiji period.
The trace that this was repaired moderately is impressive. Fortunately, this was left until the present age.

A set of arrows with target tips standing in a Kuwa (mulberry) stand and including an archery glove, bow string, and antler knock for attaching the string to the bow. Each arrow is 34 inches (86 cm) long and all are in overall fine condition, although the fletches are coming loose on a few.
A vivid six panel Edo screen depicting riders at the second Battle of Uji bridge from the Heike Monogatari signed Fujiwara Hisanobu; the signature followed by a stamp reading Eisen . The first horse plunges into the frothing current, while the rider in the rear bites his bowstring in frustration urging his stead on. The bones of the destroyed bridge visible through gold clouds in the background set the stage...

Refined black-and-white composition with some spots and a line of blackened silver-restoration (gin-naoshi) at mouth-edge.

A matching Edo period Myochin signed Go-mai-do Gusoku yoroi lacquered black and threaded with blue chord emblazoned with a seven star crest. It features a 24 plate suji kabuto with elaborate tehen kanamomo signed Myochin Ki Munemasa saku. A hanpo of iron with black lacquer in excellent condition, dating from the later Edo period. Made for an adult. It is lacquered black both inside and out, with blue lacing securing the three lame throat defense.
Two Edo period Cross-stitched Silk Sashimono Battle Flags made to be worn on the back of a fighting samurai for identification, these belonging to the Honda Clan. The larger is white and black, measuring 16 x 25 inches (46 x 63 cm). It has some losses to the cloth. The Smaller is blue and white, 17-1/2 x 21 inches (45 x 54 cm), and too has some loses (see photos). Currently framed, they will be shipped without the bulky frames.
A very rare Aikuchi (Tanto) with reverse blade called a Hanagatana, the blade signed Kei-iku-okina Suzuki Harukuni. It is in a scabbard of light wood carved with an image of the Daruma highlighted with gold lacquer on the end, a fly whisk and Nyoi in antler inlayed on opposite sides of the handle. Where the handle and scabbard meet are two discs of ox-horn. Both ends and the tie are also stag antler...
A highly unusual helmet covered in black lacquer which has aged to a mellow brown composed of iron plates arranged front to back and hinged in the center to allow the bowl to collapse forward behind the mabizashi. From the base hangs a 5 plate Hineno shikoro with prominent fukuigaeshi. There is some loss to the lacquer on the right fukigaeshi. A large crescent moon as a maedate has been attached to the front at a later but unknown date, and this has chipped the lacquer on the mabizashi...
A Reisei Ho Mask of black lacquered iron from which is suspended a throat guard of kiritsuke kozane scales laced with blue chord. Made for an adult, it is 17 x 24 x 11 cm (6 x 10 x 5 inches). It is in excellent condition.

A religious temple painting of a yellow buddha surrounded by 10 deity attendants. Seated atop a lotus throne, the buddha makes a gesture of reassurance, abbaya mudra, with his right hand, and a gesture of liberality with his left hand, varada mudra. There is an inset inscription on the left. Chosun Dynasty 17th/18th century. It measures 50" wide by 54" tall by 2.5" deep. Incense marks throughout. Previously featured in the 2008 Arts of Pacific Asia show.
A very unusual Korean chest with a complex network of geometric designs on its front, top, and sides, brass hardware incised with floral motifs, two front doors with large brass lock and working key, opening to a beautiful interior of persimmon laminate front drawers. The middle drawer opens with a special secret latch underneath it.

Antique Japanese small tansu chest made for personal use, made all of kiri (Japanese cypress) wood with nice patina and especially nice joinery. This tansu has beautiful copper hardware all over the front including corner bracing, lock plates and moko shaped drawer pulls. One large drawer runs the full width of the top portion of the chest. Below this is a vertical row of three small drawers on the right side and a compartment opened by sliding panels on the left...
