Japanese "zelkova" (keyaki) wood "kuruma" (wheeled) tansu configured with two shelves behind a set of slatted sliding doors and a single long drawer at the bottom. Iron fittings and warabite handles. Japanese late 19th or early 20th century bronze OKIMONO of a ram by Imperial Court artist, ISHIKAWA KOUMEI or MITSUAKI. ISHIKAWA KOUMEI was born in 1852 in EDO or present day Tokyo. He died in 1913. The ram is done in fine detail. The OKIMONO is signed on the bottom by the artist, KOUMEI. The OKIMONO measures 10 1/4" wide, 7" deep and 7 1/8" tall.

Late 19th century Chinese bronze seal with a figure of a seated mithycal animal qilin on top. Pleasantly heavy piece with very good casting and chiseling, great face with long snout, crisp scales, beautiful patina on the surface. Nicely carved characters within a border on the base, traces of red seal paste in the grooves. Very nice piece for scholar’s table. Height 1 7/8 inches, base 3/4 x 1 3/8 inches.

Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a natural mineral cluster wonderfully resembling a prickly pine tree. The stone is many-sided, providing different complete views. Beautiful object with extraordinary rich textured surface, fixed in newer fitted hardwood stand. I believe the mineral to be aragonite. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk, beautiful patina. Height with stand 5 1/8 inches.
