It's a variant of the Butterlfy Kachina from Jemez that went to Zuni before it reached the Hopi. Its name is Poli Sio Hemis. White and red case mask, tableta similar to Hemis Kachina except for the addition of a tube mouth. White kilt, sash, etc. White,red, and yellow body paint. Ordinary Kachina dance. A fine larger 'Pilgrim-flask style vessel, Pre-Columbian, Chimú culture, c. 900-1300 AD.

Very attractive with twin handles and the belly decorated on both sides with a mythical animal inside a stepped pyramide.

Mogollon/Tularosa ca. 1200 to 1300 ad, black on white pitcher with a double effigy handle (clay animal effigy handle with a human figure painted on it, all original) Tularosa is a time period of 100 years that was used by many different tribes from New Mexico to Arizona. This unique 3-pronged bone tool is probably a comb, but could be some type of fish or crawdad spear or even a fork. It was found at a Ft. Ancient site in Washington County, Kentucky on private property. One prong was broken off in antiquity and glued back on. This is the most unusual bone piece I have ever seen. It was obviously carved with stone tools. It is nicely polished with great patination. It dates to the Mississipian Period around 1000AD.

This is an extremely rare jade picture-plaque that dates to the Late Classic Period around 700 AD. In my 40 years of collecting, I have never seen one for sale. These plaques all belong to one school of carving known as Nebaj-type plaques because the first specimens to be found in situ in the Mayan area come from Cache 14, Mound 2, at Nebaj, Guatemala. All are made of special varieties of jades of Class 3. This type of jade tends to decompose, as in this specimen, which lends to its authenticity...

A Mexican folkart parade body mask costume depicting a ferocious male tiger with a wide open mouth. Carved from one solid tree trunk of a soft wood. Teeth are made using wild boar tusk and the tongue is a painted leather. The tail is removable.

These four points were found in the Arkansas River area of southeast Colorado and are from the old-time collection of Arley Hudson. The longest one is 1 1/8". All are very thin and expertly chipped. They are from the Mississippian Period C1000AD.

A rare large pictorial beaded Iroquois animal whimsey, circa 1890. Depicting what looks like a mythological deer or elk figure. A great folk art piece. One of the largest and most spectacular whimseys known. With a great sculptural relief, and beaded in white, blue, green, copper, light tan, numerous beaded suspensions with tubular beads, sequins. Pre-Columbian Teotihuacan Figure 12 ½ x 4 ½ x .05. Circa 600-700 A.D. Provenance: Sam Crockett collection, Cohutta, Ga.

A stone necklace composed of numerous beads of graduated size, variously of globular, tubular or irregular form in shades of light green, white and grey. They are suspending a Mezcala stone head pendant with broad incisions used to mark the facial characteristics and drilled at the back of the head. The suspended length as pictured is 15".

This is a very interesting Olmec jade maskette. It dates to 1200BC-600BC. It is 1 3/4" square. It is nicely scooped in the back. It has not been cleaned or polished. It is heavily encrusted with clay type material that will not come off with a pin prick. It does have splitting in several areas. However, the piece is solid and the cracks do not go all the way through. It is not translucent, but it is a very nice quality piece of jade...

Pin-shaped bronze coca spoons (also called lime spoon), was used to measure lime powder in order to enhance the hallucinogenic properties of other drugs.

They are costum mounted to a large plexi block and it seems to be a nice way to display them.

A rarely carved secular version of the Buffalo Dance figure. Circa 1920. Having secular eyes, a buffalo dance headdress with horns, kilt, arm bands, and moccasins, and wearing a decorative, wooden, tail-like appendage. Excellent condition with only minor paint loss. In the four decades that I've been collecting and dealing kachinas, this is the first Buffalo Dance figure I've had. Dimensions: 8 1/2" tall.

Weight is 292g silver and is 9.5" long and 2 ' wide at the top.

Pre-Columbian Nayarit male Kokopelli ca. 300 ad, playing a wood rasp drum with a horned helmet, the Kokopelli of the prehistoric southwest was described as a man with a terribly deformed back, bent over playing a flute with magical powers and was able to communicate with the Gods, I believe this is the grandfather of the prehistoric southwest Kokopelli, meaning the legends of the Kokopelli didn't start in the southwest but much further south. Every legend had to start somewhere...

This extraordinarily rare Olmec Quartz dagger or possible bloodletter was found together with the above jade dagger. It was made from a long quartz crystal of gem quality with no inclusions and ground to shape. This piece is 5 1/2" long. This Olmec artifact is of the finest workmanship and material. The effigy is in a classic Olmec pose. The artifact was in four pieces and glued back together perfectly under a microscope by Dennis Bushey. The tile showing two warriors or deities fighting, one holding a dagger and both with elaborate headdresses.

Colima Flat Large Female 9 1/2" by 5 1/2" CA. 300 B.C. to 500 A.D. Right leg reattached with break line showing, otherwise intact. This is a very nice early example, showing double pin hole piercing for each eye. She wears a unique head turban that flows continuously from the head wrap to drape over both shoulders. The piece is well shaped and detailed ,with an exceptional lifted and formed butt that is atypical for flats.

This petrified wood tang knife is from the four-corners area of the southwest. It is 3 1/4" long. It is from the Wallis-Thomas collection. The base of the tang has been snapped off anciently, but does not detract.
