Hohokam carved red basalt effigy big horn sheep ca. 650 ad. No Restoration, In as found condition with excellent ground deposits. The Hohokam seemed to use the red basalt for stone ceremonial effigies and objects but the red basalt was harder and rarer for them to find than the black basalt. This is a fine carved effigy of a big horn sheep which the Hohokam prized due to most likely how hard they were to hunt and kill. Pre-Columbian Nayarit male Kokopelli ca. 300 ad, playing a wood rasp drum with a horned helmet, the Kokopelli of the prehistoric southwest was described as a man with a terribly deformed back, bent over playing a flute with magical powers and was able to communicate with the Gods, I believe this is the grandfather of the prehistoric southwest Kokopelli, meaning the legends of the Kokopelli didn't start in the southwest but much further south. This extremely rare and stunning museum quality Olmec standing figure is made from beautiful Olmec blue true jadeite. It measures a whopping 8 3/8" long and 2 1/2" at the shoulders. The head is just shy of 3". It dates from 1200-600BC. It is the definition of Olmec classic with the elongated head and were-jaquar mouth. It has incising along the chest, left leg and left cheek.
