Size: 35-37 mm. tall.

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian. Comes with COA.

Certain items of jewelry, such as the scarab, carried religious significance to the ancient Egyptians. The scarab represented rebirth, so it was essential to have one or more scarabs adorning the deceased in order to ensure reincarnation to the next level. The owner's name was inscribed on the stone so that his spirit would know it was his.

The winged scarab was also a common motif on mummy masks and coffins, representing rebirth. Along with the 4 Sons of Horus, it too would have been placed on the beaded netting, usually placed over the heart.

Two-finger amulets were used for the dead and were often found on the lower left of the torso. This is the area of the incision that was made during the mummification process in order to remove the internal organs...

Egyptian Faience White and Yellow Lotus Petal Amulet 4,0 cm

Lotus flowers were very popular among the Egyptians and were frequently found in households and gardens. The lotus flower held strong symbolisation, white lotus flowers opened during the day and closed at night representing rebirth and creation while blue lotus flowers opened at night and closed during the day representing the renewal of life...

A finely incised Beetle scarab of a more naturalistic form with detailed engraving of the Beetle itself, New Kingdom, c. 1539–1075 BC.

Interesting engraving on the base with a large Ankh hieroglyphs that looks to have legs and is walking towards another elongated figural sign.

Size: 17-18 mm.

Condition: Very fine, intact with much wear to the glaze, attractive patina!

Attractive female idol carved from a hollowed-out bone. The face is dominated by huge, round eyes and a small nose and mouth. The artist has also carved a round belly and female genitals.
