Elegant Apulian plate covered with black, shiny metallic glaze. The shallow floor with a low sloping rim with flattened top. Impression from the foot of another dish on the floor.
Low foot with bevelled molding at the bottom. Slight fingermarks around the foot where the plate was held for dipping into the black glaze. Covered with a fine black glaze of metallic lustre...

A fine matching pair of pottery Kyathoi with finely preserved decoration, late archaic or early classic period of 550-525 BC.

Very attractive and in near perfect condition! No repair.

Daunian krater with bulbous body, short funnel-shaped mouth and slightly upturned handles.
The shoulder area with bluish-black bands and raised triangles, metope-like spaces within thin vertical lines. Hanging semicircles inside the funnel opening.

An interesting and attractive figure of the bird on a rock.

Native Apulian jug of globular body with tapering neck, everted rim and strap handle. The body, the neck and the outside of the base with circumferential bands of brown glaze. Top of the rim and outside of the handle also glazed. Standing on a flat disk base.

The panels with extraordinary depictions of a gender-based division of labor.
The hunting scene shows a naked man with a spear grasping at a bird hidden behind a large ivy leaf which may represent the forest grove.
On the other side a woman with diminutive head and outstretched arms. Assuming that plants are denoted by contouring dots, she is standing next to three trees in her garden.
Figural depictions on this type of pottery are rare...

Ancient Greek. Campanian, c. 4th Century BC.

A highly attractive Campanian black-glazed dish with impressed floral design at the center. The piece with a finely preserved glaze and slight iridescence.

Diameter: 14,5 cm.

Condition: Choice nearly superb but with a minimal chip to the underside of the rim, only visible from the back.

Ex German collection, aquired between 1972-1994.

Low bodied Attic jug with horizontal flanges at the belly and the base. The beaked spout flanked by two applied knobs rendered as rotelles. The high-swung strap handle from neck to shoulder.
The cushion shaped top with five delicate palmette stamps linked by very fine incised arcs.
The reserved incurving area between the flanges and the broad flat base show the distinct orange-red color of Attic clay.
