Rare snapshot of a satyr play with a pot-bellied actor in the role of the drunken satyr on a mule. The ithyphallic animal with dancing hind legs, the head thrown up, the mouth easily opened.
The rider sits as if drunk, the head turned to the side. His left hand clasps the head of the mule, while his right rests on the animal’s croup.

Black-glazed kylix of Ionian shape with a steep bowl and offset rim. The slightly tilted handles attached on the shoulder. The widening foot with flat resting surface.
The outside of the rim and the handle zone are reserved, as well as the small band inside the lip.
The type originates from Eastern Greece and was widely exported and soon enough copied in Athens and Greek South Italy.

This is a socketed iron spear from the ancient middle east. This was part of a lot including Bactrian and Luristan artifacts. I do not have an exact cultural attribution for this piece but it is similar to pieces from northern iran in the early part of the first millenium BC. It is 39 cm long and weighs 316 grams. It is intact with no evidence of repair.

This is a bronze Scythian brooch from an ancient Eurasian Steppe culture dating back to the 6th-4th Century B.C. The brooch is shaped like a recumbent deer, with a slender body and pronounced musculature. Glazed jug of globular body and evert neck. Three raised knobs around the shoulder. Arching strap handle with tiny knobs at the topmost point, standing on a bulged base.
The upper side covered with a black glaze that turns into a red-brown in places.

She is seated, depicted veiled, and playing on a tympanum, leaning slightly back.

Size: 10,5 cm. tall.

Condition: Intact, uncleaned with encrustations.

Naked dwarf standing in squat position and holding his hands in front of his belly. The head with almond-shaped eyes, thick nose and nice archaic smile. The hair on the back with horizontal steps. The surface covered by a brown glaze.
This kind of paunchy dwarf figurines is thought to be inspired by the dwarf god Paitakos, the Egyptian patron of children.

Black-figure depiction of naked youths with clamydes that cover their shoulders and bystanders clad in cloaks. All figures hold spears.
The scene is framed with ivy garlands on the sides and buds alternating with dots on the marked shoulder. A row of tongues emerge from the ridged junction to the neck.
Applied red on the outer edge of the rim and the sideward rotelles, the ridged junction to the neck, the garments and the fillet of one youth...

Protomes of prancing horses joined at the midsection to a wagon-like box.
The visible face with carefully incised manes, bridles, and indicated joins to the legs. The eyes recessed to bear spheres of a different material.
The slightly bent groove between the front legs indicates that the attachment was put over an object. At the bottom center a flap with a hole for fastening.

A very attractive tall pottery figure of a standing female or deity, Magna Grecia, ca. 3rd. century BC.

The figure is standing with a slight bend in her left knee and one arm above her head perhaps correcting her large headress. She is veiled and clad in elegant garments.

Size: 16,5 cm.

Condition: Superb for type, intact with remnants of white pigments.

Offered here is an outstanding Greek Apulian Kylix. The kylix has a splendid body form with beautiful intact handles that curl slighly upward at the tips. The feature of this piece is the nice band of grapevines that surrounds the piece on both the inside and the outside. The medallion decorated with a Siren seen from the front, she appears between volutes and flower tendrils. The nice head with a polos crown, the full bosom and the wings point to a Siren.
