Beautiful Chinese fragment of a dragon robe, Kangxi period, Qing dynasty. Decorated with 3 five-clawed dragons. A front faced dragon located at the chest area while the other two dragons holding fire pearl looking upward and flying above the sea waves. The last enlargement illustrates the relevant piece at its original appearance. P.S. in 2012 or 2013, a similar fragment with only the lower half part sold at USD 11,000. Dimensions: 130 x 62cm...

The Zhuang are one of the larger of the Chinese Ethnic Minority groups. This is a rare old baby carrier from Yunnan Province. Because silk was not readily available in the rural areas, the use of silk as the background fabric indicates that this carrier came from a wealthy family. The central panel uses several colors of fabric appliqued into a large stylized lotus flower. Silk thread is used for the delicate satin stitched embroidery of butterflies and flowers...

An antique heart-shaped midnight blue satin silk pouch finely embroidered on both sides with two stylized dragons around a "shou" character in Peking knot. Cotton lining, inner rim with paper residue. Condition: few loose threads and little traces of usage. Dimension: purse: 9 cm x 9 cm.

Framed Chinese early Qing dynasty imperial silk and gold threads brocade fragment with 5 claws dragon. This piece most likely is under part(knee) of a dragon robe. This dragon holding a firing pearl flying above sea waves and mountain. Dimensions: 51 x 23 cm without frame, 73 x 45 cm with frame. Blue silk ground with embroidery in Peking knot and satin stitch, showing peonies and auspicious symbols. Bordered with later, patterned fabric and backed with silk. Condition: few small stains. Dimension: 58.5 cm long x 22.3 cm wide.

Antique Chinese rug from the Bautou area, woven with a pair of cranes and a pair of deer. The cranes fly in a sky of deep indigo beneath a large pine tree. In the foreground is a pair of deer, one with antlers and white spots and one without. One of the deer is nibbling tufts of lingzhi. 19th century. Size: 67" long x37 1/2" wide.

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings to cover her lower legs from the bottom of her skirt to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find. See my listing TC236 and ZTC233. This pair of leggings are of very fine red silk damask weave fabric with ribbon and silk embroidered trim at the cuffs.

This pair of sleeve bands is made of black cotton satin weave fabric with very delicately stitched floral motif embroidery. Each panel measures 6" x 26" with embroidered area measuring 3" x 9"

Very rare, Gulong Miao children’s jacket from Guizhou. This is a side opening style, made from all hand woven cloth (except for the inner sleeve lining) with hand embroidered anthropomorphic figures, on a calendared greenish cotton ground. This is an antique, elegant, black lacquered Burgaute snuff bottle of rectangular tapering towards the base hexagonal faceted shape, with flat footing and a round neck. Beautifully decorated with mother-of-pearl and gold inlays of flowers and geometrical forms. Spectacular detail...

During the Qing Dynasty, Chinese court gentlemen and ladies used elaborate hair styles. To assist in these construction of the "hairdo's", they used a wire form was covered with a mesh fabric. This particular "cap" was used to cover a bun of hair on the center of the head. The silver flat "hairpin" was used to hold the cap in place by pushing it through one side hole, between the hair bun and the scalp and through the other side hole. The inside of the cape clearly shows its age and use.

Exquisite Chinese satin silk hand embroidered and hand sewn jacket and pleated skirt with drawstring waistband. Pristine condition, circa 1930s or 1940s, see last enlargement for reference. Jacket dimensions- sleeve to sleeve width at shoulder: 127cm/50in, length shoulder to bottom : 68cm/26in and width in the middle: 92cm/36in. Skirt length: 82cm/32in (not including fringe) and waist: 72cm/28in. Still very wearable!

Made of silk. Two panels with very fine embroidery of a dragon and a phoenix, with lots of gold thread. The other panels with simple flower patterns. Some of them with gilt brass bells at the bottom.
