Antique Chinese square panel of red silk embroidered with still life scene of peony flowers in a dragon vase, on either side are elaborate display stands with shelves of different levels upon which are displayed a bowl of hand-of-buddha citron as well as smaller vases with flowers, a censor and other objects, details in wrapped gold thread, 19th century. This 19th Century traditional Han Chinese robe would have been used for winter wear. It uses dark black satin weave silk fabric, and has very wide cuffs with floral embroidery and the shape is trimmed out with a floral silk ribbon. The coat has its original buttons and fabric loop closures...and has original lining. Excellent condition

It is 76.3 inches (194 cm) from sleeve to sleeve, 26 inches (66 cm) armpit to armpit, and 51.3 inches (130.5 cm) collar to hem. It is 1.8 lb.

It has stains at inner lining, mild loose and pulling of threads, and discolorations (as seen in the photos).

During the Qing Dynasty, Chinese court gentlemen and ladies used elaborate hair styles. To assist in these construction of the "hairdo's", they used a wire form was covered with a mesh fabric. This particular "cap" was used to cover a bun of hair on the center of the head. The silver flat "hairpin" was used to hold the cap in place by pushing it through one side hole, between the hair bun and the scalp and through the other side hole. The inside of the cape clearly shows its age and use.

This is a beautifully embroidered Chinese silk fan case, done almost entirely in the Peking knot technique, sometimes called "blind stitch." Both sides of the piece have been embroidered. Areas of the decoration have been skillfully raised to create a "3-D" effect. The embroidery is in exceptional, unfaded condition. Please note that one edge of the case is open, suggesting that the stitching has possibly come undone. Two rosy-pink glass beads are secured to the attached cord...
