Antique Japanese 2 section isho tansu (chest on chest for clothing), made of kiri (paulownia) wood. The top section has two large drawers and the bottom section has two drawers of different widths. The lower right hand corner has a hinged safe box door which opens to reveal two small interior drawers. Hardware is made of iron and includes square lock plates and square drawer pulls.

An antique Japanese gilt wood temple Ranma (transom). Hand carved depicting a pair of Kingfisher with 3 Swallows amongst Lotus blossoms and leaves. One Swallow has caught a small fish while one Kingfisher has caught the leg of a frog. Deep relief with inscription on left and partial inscription on right.

Charming Japanese school desk in a long bench style, with coat hangers on each side. The top of the desk has an inkwell and a dip for storing pens. The desk's surface has multiple carvings done by school children, such as an arrow through a heart containing a short love sentiment in kanji. Japanese late Meiji to Taisho period Tokyo style rectangular naga hibachi with beautiful zelkova (keyaki) wood grain. Five storage drawers on the front have copper warabite handles. A removable rectangular wood insert is placed over the fire container which contains an original copper liner with nice patina. Two inset carrying handles are at the sides. Early 20th century. Measures 13" high (15 1/4" high to the top of the wood insert) x 26 3/4" long x 14 1/4" deep...

Antique Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest). Kiri (paulownia) wood front with sugi (cryptomeria) wood frame and drawer interiors. Three full-width drawers, the middle drawer is 3/4 width with two small drawers to it's right hand side. Blackened iron hardware includes moko shaped drawer pulls and round lock plates.

Antique Japanese Sakata Funa Tansu (safe chest), made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood with reddish orange translucent Urushi lacquer finish, single locking panel can be removed to reveal 5 interior drawers of different sizes, iron hardware including bamboo shaped exterior lock and Chrysanthemum shaped interior lock, bronze interior drawer pulls, Sakata area, late Edo Period (c. 1850). Size: 13" high x 21 1/2" wide x 14 1/4" deep.

An antique Japanese two sectional kiri (paulownia) tansu with 4 larger drawers with diamond hand forged iron hardware hardware. Side handles interlocking the top section securely onto the bottom section. Natural blond finish with stunning natural kiri wood grain.

An antique Japanese Kotansu small chest made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware. Most likely a bespoke commissioned chest suiting the owner who wanted to secure the 5 storage drawers behind a hinged door. Interesting 3 side handle configuration suggesting that the contents that was stored was haavy in weight.
