An antique Japanese bronze usubata in the shape of a large gourd with a morning glory vine wrapped around the gourd. The realistic expression seen in the details of the leaves of the vase is distinctive of Japanese art. Age: Meiji-Taisho Period c1910 Size: Diameter 12.5" Height 12.5"
This is a wonderful slender pear shaped bronze vase
from the Meiji era (1868-1912. It is highly detailed and decorated with three raised relief elephants. One of the images was deliberately overexposed to show off the fine detail. It has the original patina and is in excellent condition. Stands 12 3/4 inches tall and is signed underneath by Genryusai Seiya. Buyers should be careful because there are poor copies or fakes of this elephant vase showing up in auctions.
Bronze covered hibachi by Soho Sunosuke. Bronze lid with image of Chinese lions and peonies surrounded with a karakusa or scroll vine pattern openwork border on the side. The body of the hibachi contain metalwork still lives of herons, mandarin ducks, quails, and pheasants. Bottom of the hibachi contains the signature of Soho Sunosuke. Signature reading: Soho. A good, large murashido patinated bronze vase. Raised geese and irises decoration including some katakiribori details. The bottom may have been reversed when reattaching it at some later time. From inside the vase can be seen on the bottom a 16 petal chrysanthemum overlaid by Kashiwa (oak leaf) mon and on a bed of same - all in relief...

Quality dark patina bronze sculpture depicting the study of a powerful tiger in an unusual position.
The animal's posture is engaging with the paw raised and the tail curled upwards along the end. The streaks of the fur are depicted in a masterly way and highlighted with a strong engraving.
Signed under the belly with the mark of the Maruki company (in the square) and the engraver Atsuyoshi.

Large bronze vase depicting an egret, in relief, on a perch in the center of a watercourse, surrounded by four swimming fish. The figure of the egret emerges from the vase with remarkable three-dimensionality and depth.
Signature engraved under the base within a rectangular reserve.

A superb bronze Japanese shishi with one paw on a pierced ball. Signed on bottom of statue. Includes wooden stand. Two holes were drilled on bottom of the fu dog to secure it to stand, see photos.
