This is Japanese Antique Indigo dye shirushi Hanten coat Maiji. It is thick indigo dye cotton. The lining is very good katazome.It is a hand-spun cotton that is very soft to the touch. It is indigo of nature. It is an impressive motif. There is a little stain. However, there is no damage. The family crest on the back is patchwork.It is very good. The gently domed top of this incense box is decorated with a traditional painting of crane diving for fish over sea rock. The sides of the box lid have scalloped indents to allow for easy opening. Box is 5+ inches x 3+ inches X2 inches high.

Antique Japanese cylindrical hibachi made of bent suginoki (cryptomeria) and decorated with a maki-e lacquer scene of a family of chickens in a bamboo grove. The mother hen and two chicks look for food on the ground while their father rooster looks back at his third little chick.
