It is a large polychrome stem dish called Tazza with a scalloped rim and brightly enameled with central lotus flower and foliage.

The dating was based on carbon 14 analysis of the ships timber and by cross-referring the ceramic cargo to other datable shipwreck sites. The ship was about 28 metres long with a beam of 7-8 metres, and again of 'South China Sea' type...
