Original woodblock print by Helen Hyde entitled "Baby Talk". One of her most famous prints. The print has "Copyright 1908 by Helen Hyde" printed within the lower left hand oval border. Fine impression and color. The title, "Baby Talk" and the print number - 178, are written in pencil. There is also the number and 64281 written in pencil below the lower middle border. The paper measures 21" wide and 13 1/2" tall. The print measures 18 3/4" wide by 12" tall.

This is a wonderful set of Japanese bridal kanzashi (hair ornaments) from the Meiji to Taisho period, late 1800s to early 1900s, made out of tortoise shells. We assume that this kanzashi was decorated with the auspicious emblem, a phoenix bird in paulownia tree, with some elements (leaves, flowers and birds) altered to the family of the bride. It has an aura of nobility and power. The family crest on the box is three ivy leaves...

Beautiful Japanese altar tansu with gilt lacquer floral motifs along many front drawers, each with a mokko style handle. Two sliding doors line the top with gold ocean scenery. Two hinged doors with gilt inlay court figures bear the signature seal of the artist. Behind the two doors are three nishiji lacquer drawers with wonderful gilt fish and octopus surrounded with shells. The interior of each door is also in nishiji lacquer with gilt lacquer boats...

A most delicate hand painted KANGXI (1662-1722)octagonal blue and white porcelain wine or liquor cup. The exterior of the cup has 8 panels with delicately rendered flower motifs, whereas the center medallion depicts a charming scene with pagodas, trees and a seascape. A Japanese leather tobacco pouch with pipe case (kiseruzutsu) and ojime made out of stag horn. The pipe case is finely carved in relief with an eagle on a pine branch above a waterfall; the ojime is engraved and decorated with a key fret design; the pouch with a patinated copper clasp modeled as a frog.
