19th century small marine material ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in the round with a man trying to fish in a stream with a double gourd next to a pine and a woven fence. Ojime illustrates a Japanese proverb “Namazu hyotan kindama” (A gourd against a catfish) meaning useless effort similar to trying to catch a slippery fish with a gourd. Unusual 19th century Japanese bronze scroll weight in a shape of a crouching toad. Very nice work, wonderful rendition of its warty back, eyes are lacquered in gold and black giving it lifelike quality. Appropriately heavy as a scroll weight, beautiful patina. Length 2.67 inches.
19th century Chinese miniature scholar’s rock in a shape of a dramatic mountain massif with foothills, several peaks and snow fields. The piece gives a very strong feeling of weathered rock shaped by water and time, and overpowering energy of the mountain range. Variegated gray with a hint of olive green Qilian limestone with natural fissures and white veins, very beautiful patina, well fitted hardwood stand. 19th century Chinese rock crystal seal in a shape of a tall and narrow mountain peak characteristic of Southern China. Very beautiful stone with few natural cloudy areas by the bottom, excellent quality carving of 4 sunken characters on the bottom, very fine polish to the surface. Traces of red seal paste in the grooves, imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Several tiny nicks to edges as to be expected on an old piece. Very good object for scholar’s table. Height 1 3/4 inches.
Using these Chinese lotus-shaped lacquer tea saucers simplified passing and serving hot tea. Traditional Chinese symbols are delicately painted with copper color over a black lacquer background. There is a double happiness symbol at each end along with clouds, water waves and lucky bat symbol in the center. The back side is traditional Chinese red.

Triangular seal plate, engraved with what looks to be a sort of script or symbols, looks almost Egyptian in the style, but we're not certain and it should be researched some more. Finely made knob handle with piercing

Chinese Elmwood small square shape table, late 19th c., 11" high, 12 1/2" square on top, with pegged round straight legs. There is a narrow piece of wood wedged between original Elmwood top and the uneven finish which is original, it is a solid table, shows some wears, original wood color top.
Unusual 19th Century Japanese Imari fluted edged dish with an asymmetrical design featuring a basket of fruit and 3 butterflies. In excellent condition, it measures about 10 inches in diameter. Dates late 1800, Meiji Era.

A Japanese totai ceramic plate with butterflies on a turquoise ground. Signed on bottom Kinkozan and in very good condition without any damage, no hairlines, no chips, it measures 7.25 inches diameter. Meiji Era. We have a 2nd plate in same butterfly pattern available.
Rather unusual 19th century or earlier Chinese scholar’s object in a form of a natural agate nugget rather realistically resembling a group of three persimmons. Superb fingering piece with wonderful patina on the surface from generations of handling, feels extremely pleasant in one’s hand. Guaranteed to be the only object of that shape in the world, looks great on a scholar’s desk. Length 2 3/16 inches.

The bottom is carved with two raised characters, old dried red seal paste in the grooves. Delicately white/green natural untreated jadeite with darker green areas, beautiful finish to the surface. Height 1 5/8 inches, diameter 3/8 inches.
Late Qing Dynasty (pre 1911) Chinese scholar jadeite seal of irregular rectangular shape. Does not photograph well. Wonderful austere piece appropriate for a scholar’s table, pleasant finish to the stone. The bottom is carved with two raised characters, red seal paste in the grooves. Off-white natural untreated jadeite with touch of green and russet skin areas. Imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Height 1 11/16 inches.
