Bronze covered hibachi by Soho Sunosuke. Bronze lid with image of Chinese lions and peonies surrounded with a karakusa or scroll vine pattern openwork border on the side. The body of the hibachi contain metalwork still lives of herons, mandarin ducks, quails, and pheasants. Bottom of the hibachi contains the signature of Soho Sunosuke. Signature reading: Soho. This is a wonderful slender pear shaped bronze vase
from the Meiji era (1868-1912. It is highly detailed and decorated with three raised relief elephants. One of the images was deliberately overexposed to show off the fine detail. It has the original patina and is in excellent condition. Stands 12 3/4 inches tall and is signed underneath by Genryusai Seiya. Buyers should be careful because there are poor copies or fakes of this elephant vase showing up in auctions.
Pair of bronze vases adorned with inlays, decorated with two Onagadori roosters, known for their elegant length of tail. The roosters are represented perched on a plum branch.

A good, large murashido patinated bronze vase. Raised geese and irises decoration including some katakiribori details. The bottom may have been reversed when reattaching it at some later time. From inside the vase can be seen on the bottom a 16 petal chrysanthemum overlaid by Kashiwa (oak leaf) mon and on a bed of same - all in relief...

Rectangular rounded netsuke manju, made of ivory and depicting the mighty Shoki with horn eyes. Shoki is a Japanese mythological figure, also known as the demon hunter, who symbolizes protection from evil forces.
Adding a touch of sophistication to the manju the sword, with which he fights demons, in mother of pearl and the details of Shoki's robes in tortoiseshell.

This is a very fine pair of Japanese satsuma vases that stand just 4 1/4 inches tall. Attractive form, enamel colors and very fine details. They look like they have spent most of their lives stored in the box. One has the original sticker and both are signed. The signature looks a bit like the Kozan mark but we are not sure. Some of the larger flowers remind us of work seen on Bizan and Yabu pieces.
Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) small Japanese bronze vase with gold, silver and copper inlays depiction a long-tailed rooster on a flowering cherry branch. Excellent crisp work, perfectly captured posture of the creature, beautifully carved and inlaid, a few darker spots, overall in great condition. Signed KOSHU (alternative reading is Mitsufune) on the back. Height 4 5/8 inches.

A well-made ink-stone box of heavy, rose wood (hongmu). The lid inlaid with thin bamboo slips to form a sentence of four characters reading: “Auspecious Blessings as You Please (Jixiang ruyi).” Late Qing, ca. 1900. L 24 cm, W 15 cm, H 5 cm. Condition: Perfect (very minor wear due to use).
