19th century boxwood netsuke depicting the head of himono (gutted dried fish). Initially food taken along on a journey, dried fish came to symbolize good luck and health. Beautiful realistic carving (appears to be a head of salmon), wonderful sharp detailing, clever use of one eye as himotoshi. Superb patina on wood, in excellent condition, very pleasant to hold. Length 2.35 inches (60 mm).

Three small differently shaped Iranian women's pouches. Made of termeh wool fabric with boteh or floral motifs, partially embellished with embroidery or gold braids. Two with printed cotton "qalamkar" and one with monochrome silk lining. The seals mostly of the tall pyramid shape, but there's also a 4-side rectangular seal, engraved with symbols on all 4 sides and vertically drilled. Another fine seal is cones-shaped and with a high relief engraving of the base.

Bottle with a long stretched neck harmoniously twisted in the shape of a swan's neck. The glassmaker shaped his work with gadroons, a painter decorated it with golden flowers. This type of object was a teardrop intended to receive the tears of ladies when their husbands went to war. The almond shape of the edge adapts perfectly to the eye. These vases were made from the 18th century and throughout the 19th. especially in 1900. Copies are probably still made...

Early 19th century suigaraake (ashtray) netsuke with round silvered bronze body, cloisonne outside and a swinging loop for hanging. Excellent early work in terms of Japanese cloisonne, functional netsuke shape, design of flowers among scrolling vines, matte finish, beautiful wear and patina, original pitting typical for the period, some filled areas along the rim as can be seen on photos. Diameter 1 1 5/8 inches.

The rectangular pouch made of different Persian silk fabrics with cotton lining and two buttons. The kohl etui worked of ruby velvet with raised embroidery in couched metal lamellae, the sides are sewn together. A lovely and very rare early seal pendant with recessed animal, Northern Mesopotamia, c. 5th.-4th. millenium BC.

Late Halaf period large oval pendant with flat backside and the seal engraved with a four-legged animal, loop at the top.

A fine black stone stamp seal with high relief, Ancient Near East Uruk period, c. 2nd. half of the 4th. millenium BC.

High relief cross with recessed circles in each quadrant.

Cambodia, 12th-13th century.

A finely cast figure of a Godess, likeley 'Uma', standing in samabhanga, wearing a sampot with a elaborate hems, holding ritual objects in both hands, richly adorned with jewelry. Her strongly featured face with almond-shaped eyes, and full lips, the head surmounted by a large and elaborate pointed crown.

Quite exceptional for the richness of details and the fine cast...

Height approximately 20.5 cm. There is a soft glaze peeled off on the rim. In good condition.
