Nayarit west Mexico, Ca. 300 BCE – 200 CE. A Nayarit, Chinesca Type B proto-Classic figure. This seated figure done with the typical Type B heart shaped head has a great surface, painted details on her clothes. A gorgeous Chavin bottle from Peru, ca. 1200 – 200 BC. This large tiered vessel is 12” high and is lavishly decorated. The lower portion of the chamber is covered with stippled adornos typical of the type, while the upper section is deeply incised with a mythical pattern of unknown meaning. Overall in excellent condition, with good mineral deposits, extensive trails and just minor damage.
