This large porcelain charger from the nineteenth century is believed to be of Russian origin, and depicts a brutal battle between Roman and enemy troops. The scene is surrounded by a gold border set within a purple colored ground. It measures an impressive 19.75" (50.2 cm) in diameter and resides in a period frame measuring 26" (66.0 cm) in diameter and 2.25" (5.7 cm) deep. Total estimated weight is 20 lbs. This spectacular over sized cobalt Victorian jardiniere with matching pedestal is without repair. It is in the untouched condition and has a wonderful presence. The jardiniere measures 16" W and 13" T. The base is 40" T. The combined height is 53 inches. Both pieces are signed with the raised W S & S cartouche.
