This is a fabulous flow blue transfer or transferware bowl in an unknown landscape pattern by an unknown Staffordshire, England pottery. The bowl dates to the victorian era 1840-1870. The bowl is 2.25 inches high by 10 inches in diameter. It features a gothic scene with a fancy border with landscape vignettes, a molded shape a remnants of sponged gold trim. This carpet ball or carpet bowl is over 100 years old and is of original glazed hard fired clay. The design is an interesting one of white and black plaid. Plaid was a favorite of Queen Victoria. The carpet ball is about 3.5 inches in diameter. It is quite heavy. The condition is good. It has been used, and has 1 hole and 1 repaired hole, but as these balls go it's in good condition. This is a wonderful ironstone blue transferware teacup trio consisting of cup, saucer and cake or sandwich plate made during the reign of Queen Victoria of England in the so-called late Victorian period 1880-1900.
