Italian majolica platter, Faenza, circa 1850. Probably collected by a fortunate young traveller on his grand tour of Italy. Original paper label affixed to back reads Columni de ????. Gorgeously hand painted scene of peasant women washing linens and travelers refreshing themselves and their horses at a classical water fountain in the mountainous countryside.
