Unusual Russian silver & shaded enamel tazza by Ivan Saltykov, manufactured in Moscow before 1896. Measuring 5" (12.75 cm) across and approximately 4" (10.2 cm) tall, the top surface is decorated in shaded enamel scrolling floral patterns against gilt grounds and bordered with turquoise pellets. Lively paprika red, olive green and white enameling embellish the lid and handle of this turn of the century Russian silver tea strainer. This infuser is 916/1000 silver (nearly sterling standard) and gold washed overall. The gilding is all intact. There are no chips to the enameling. The lid is hinged and snaps shut securely.
