A set of four magnificent north German Georgian wine goblets; probably from one of the Lauenstein group of glassworks and dating to the mid 18th century. The goblets have capacious drawn trumpet bowls with the tapering stems having an air beaded circlet of eight well placed beads beneath the bowl. The glasses are mounted on large conical feet with rough pontils. Non lead glass; probably a potash soda mix. High quality metal with a good dark tone. This set of 6 crystal wine glasses was made in the early 20th century in Czechoslovakia, earlier known as Bohemia. They are unsigned so we cannot specifically identify a maker. They are 4 3/4 inches tall and the diameter of the bowl is 3 inches. The glass has a lead content and these glasses ring. The top part of the glass is blown in two layers. Eight internal sides in both the bowl and the lid, polished pontil. A large and rare Spanish tankard produced c1770 in the Royal Spanish glassworks of La Granja De San Ildefonso in Segovia; 80 km north of Madrid. There is an engraved and gilded ornate border above a foliate border to the body of the tankard. The handle is applied appropriate to period and is quite unusual with a thick reinforcement spine.
