Superb Early 19th Century Copper Coal Hod or Scuttle

This gorgeous English antique, based on its form, is from the very early 19th century. It could well be Georgian, rather than early Victorian. Later coal hods, also called coal scuttles, had a more vertical helmet shape and swing handles. This hod, as you see, has two fixed handles, one of wood at the back and one of white china above.
