A fantastic set of six scrimshaw maritime pictures in oval ebony frames. The subject matter is of English sailing ships and the detail and condition are excellent. The name of the ship is at the bottom of the picture, these are really beautiful and early, 19th century, and will enhance any maritime collection. More pictures to come.

Pharonic Decorated Tinsel Grand Tour Box, c. 1870

Measuring 6 1/2" in length, and 4" in height, this little red velvet box is covered in gilt "tinsel" decorations consisting of cross bars, blue glass "jewels" and two sizes of silver and enamel pharonic heads. I suspect this is a Grand Tour souvenir, or a souvenir item, perhaps German in origin dating from one of the eras of Egyptomania, in the second half of the Nineteenth Century. The entire piece is in superb, bright and fresh condition, with a gold fabric interior. What a find!

A nice set of castings of ancient relics and cameos. These are castings like those that Victorians displayed in shadow boxes. The originals are an assortment of Greek, Egyptian and other ancient cultures. The Minoan Bull rider cameo is about 1 7/8" diameter. All are a cast stone composition. These pieces are not antiques, the originals are.

French Charles X Pen Work Ink Stand, Bronze Mounts

This French, Charles X (c. 1830) standish is about as choice an example of penwork as one might find. It measures 13 3/4" wide, 9 1/2"deep, and 7" high (to the handle on top). There is one drawer a lock (but no key). The bronze handle and feet are finely detailed, as is all of the decoration. Although this sort of work is quite fragile, this piece has survived largely intact with only the expected losses to some of the edges, and one repair on the top, concave panel where the pens would rest.
