This beautiful hand carved ivory sewing box was made for a Moscow market in 18th Century (Katerina the Great period) in Kholmogory (Arkhangelsk, North of Russia). The box is in good condition considering of its age. The box has only a few small chips as it seen on the picture. Inside the box it has the signature of the master who executed this box: V.Jarovov (see my photo). The size is 9”1/2’x 6”1/2’x 5” (24 x 16.5 x 13 cm).

On the edge
decoration of stylized clouds.
Dimensions: 10 1/3 high, 7 7/8" wide.
Origin and period: french work, 17th century.
Condition: two missing parts (see photographs).
A beautiful quality 1600's french work.

Felt lined button box. Souvenir of Jacobs Ladder railway, Aberystwyth, Wales.The railway was built in 1902 to serve the lead mines, timber and passenger traffic of the Rheidol Valley. In deference to the hostile terrain, the railway was built on narrower track guage (1' 11 3/4").The box measures 3 3/4" wide 2 1/2" deep, and 2" tall. Condition is very good.

A most unusual shaped sewing bucket with pin cushion top. Souvenir of Dunkeld, Scotland. "From the Athole Plantation, Dunkeld. Cam ye by Athole,Down by the Tumme, or banks o' the Garry. Saw ye the lads wi' their bonnets, an white cockades. Leaving their mountains to follow Prince Charlie." On the bottom it states,
"Anderson Bookseller, Dunkeld". 2 1/4" by 2 1/2". Condition is very good.
