Italian 15th century marble: height 29cm, width 27cm Frame height 51cm width 47cm Marble carved in high relief. Mary with long hair which is covered with a shawl. She wears a simple dress. Both she and the Child have halo's which tile forward. The characteristic of tilting halos was popular in the 15th century. The palm branches are symbolic of Christ's triumph over sin and death.
