An elegant, gilt metal sanctuary lamp from France in the Gothic Revival style with gothic arches and turrets, hanging from 3 original metal chains and smoke bell. A green glass votive candle hangs from the chains above the hexagonal base. Total length from smoke bell to the ring at the bottom is 38" The six-sided base is 7.5" wide, perfect size for a small church, chapel or oratory. Condition is excellent.

gilt paperoles altar contain eleven precious relics
all waxseal and thread correct in place:
M.Macoquin, S.F de Sales, Ste Thérèse, S. Charles-B., Ste Victoire,
Ste de Chanta, S.Flocelle, Ste Amable, S.Reverien, S.Donatien,
Stes Reliques. Above the relics there is a french inscription:

Spanish or Spanish colonial oil painting on copper of the Virgin Mary with all the attributes of the woman in Revelations: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars. Four angels or cherubim look on as the clouds part; the head of the serpent with an apple in his mouth is crushed by the woman's foot. In the background is a lovely landscape of mountains, trees and a river. Frame 9.5" x 7.5" is wooden with gesso, gilt and traces of polychrome.... Click for details

Polychromed gessoed wooden statue of Saint Anthony of Padua vested in Franciscan robes decorated with gilt flowers and vines. The saint holds a book in his left hand which has a hole in it (probably for the missing statue of the Christ child) His right hand is long gone. This beautiful figure dates from the 18th century, possibly earlier. Total height on base is 25" Condition is good although there are losses to the paint and gesso as shown in the pictures. A 19th century copy of a silver medieval reliquary in the form of a monk, priest or bishop wearing vestments and a skull cap with long hair and holding a casket in the shape of a cathedral or church with gothic arches, pinnacles and rose windows on the sides. Three stones are inset on the casket which opens. Four stones are inset on the base supported by 4 lions. Hallmarks on the bottom of the base and also on the casket are a crown above the letters SR.
