This case from "Aurea's" trousseau measures 27 X 16" with 5" lace at each end, as well as 1" border of Italian openwork in drawn threads "punto tagliato" at each end. Letters are of padded embroiderery,flowers, cutwork and needleworked fillings. The A is almost 5" tall.and the width of the name is almost 7" .Divine linen,very cold and crisp,but also soft as silk. 2 small pin holes near the lace. Now laundered and ironed! This is the smallest of pillow cases offered from an Italian trousseau made for the Senorina Aurea (meaning "golden one") .This creamy linen is so luxurious,very cold to the touch and it shimmies as only fine antique linen can do! It is embellished with rows of drawnwork and hemstitching,and a 8.5" scroll with Aurea highlighted by cutworked olive leaves. This is one of the oldest and finest pieces of its type. 44 inches long by 16.5 inches wide. A stunning Ersari ( beshir ) turkman jollar trapping. Fairly fine for an Ersari weaving, the colors are all vegetable dyes, no synthetics. Ivory, dark green, medium green, apricot, madder red, yellow, and blue. Wonderful long cotton pillow sham or bolster cover from Italy with a 8" ruffle on each end of embroidered eyelet, lace insertion and drawnwork. The small but exquisite French style monogram KCS or KFS is profesionally monogramed by hand . It is of fine cotton, measuring 33" in length, 15" width, and will hold 2 regular American down pillows, as seen in photos. I don't think it was ever used! This is a painted metal, double-sided sign depicting a boot and a shoe. It evidently hung outside a shoe shop, and is virtually identical on both sides, with one side being only slightly more worn that the other. It measures 20" x 14 1/2" and bears the scratches and wear of use, but is essentially in good condition.

Some say this is the American version of older blanket cover (blankets were considered most valuable and were protected by different forms of covers.)
