A superbly executed sampler, this peice was executed by Catherine Patterson of Bonnyrig age 12 in 1852. nder the alphabets, Catherine includes her genealogical history in the form of crowned initials. Particularly noteworthy is the distinctive marine motif. Catherineincludes a sailor, standing inexplicably on a chair whit the words "Royal Tar" framing the dimunitive sailor's head.
