This exquisite sheet has a highly embellished 25" turndown ! Drawnwork embroidery and satin(silk?) applique cover the width and 25" down each side. The center stylized fleur de lis motif is formed of padded dots and measures 15" across.Then it is filled with a satin rose,leaves and tendrils heavily padded embroidery. Outstandingly strong graphic created by both the pattern of this Carpenter's Wheel (aka Octagonal Star; Eccentric Star) as well as the use of solid black and white fabrics. Alternating black and white in each block further contributes to the powerful impact. Hourglass formations created in the off blocks adds additional interest. Streamlined, perhaps original pattern that I have termed Bricks, for want of a more proper name. Wonderfully abstract in its simplicity. Nicely quilted including concentric half circles in the border that are a terrific contrast to the geometry of the rest of the quilting as well as the pieced pattern. Measures 40" x 55"; excellent condition. Maryland origin.
