Unusual antique hand beaded double-sided purse, featuring a village landscape complete with houses, a sheep and a church (or monastery), circa 1820-1850. The landscape and floral sections are executed in blue, green and white, against a brown ground – very striking! Striped brown silk lining. The purse lacks a drawstring; there are scattered small areas of bead loss, but they don’t interfere with its unique beauty. Measures 7” by 5 ¾”.

The work on this hussif is incredible: each felt piece is outlined in and decorated with brightly colored beads. The hussif is divided into six pocket sections. The bright red top section is embroidered “Prince of Wales LXXXII... Click for details

This extremely rare antique bag from an English dealer near Cambridge is sure to be a star in any handbag collection. I date it to the 1860s or 1870s, based on a confluence of factors. First off, its frame and chain are splendid examples of the earliest craftsmanship in plastic - so early, in fact, that there's no clasp!
