Perfect in every way, these sheets are truly exceptional! They are embroidered in the heavily padded Appenzell manner, with 5 lobed flowers, tiny French sanding stitches, and beautifully executed ER monogram. There is still the blue-grey cast to the embroidery where the design was marked,and they appear to be unused, however they are now washed and ironed. This is a wonderful set of large dinner napkins, with beautiful and precise drawnwork hems on all four sides and large drawnwork motifs in one corner of each. There are 3 different designs,including olive branches and pineapples, symbols of hospitality. The linen is absolutely the best old linen, fantastic to feel and so drapey! The little lady who sold me these lovely pieces called them "Church Cloths", I assume for Altar. The body is creamy silk and the pale ecru lace is beautiful and in wonderful condition!. Circa 1920. The longest measures approx. 16" x 46" has several thin places and tiny holes,and a small pink (wine?) stain and light yellow stain 1/2", but there are no holes on the laces. This symbolic piece was most likely made at home by a very skilled embroideress. The stylized lotus and passion flower designs are indicative of the arts and crafts era. The padded ancient lettering in German translates to "He is merciful" or "God is Merciful". Notice the turkey red monogram under the lace at the bottom. Star of Bethlehem (aka Lone Star) is rarely seen in the scaled down version of a crib quilt. Sawtooth border not only provides a great frame but assures that this piece was always a crib quilt, rather than a fragment of a larger piece. Fabrics typical of southeast Pennsylvania in the late 19th century. Well quilted; excellent condition. Professionally laundered. Measures 39" square; circa 1870.

This huge towel measures 62" including the hand knotted 8+" fringe on each end! I hope the darkened photos show the wonderful art nouveau patterned damask, the color is very white. It seems unused, there's a very slight surface stain which should wash right out. The linen is incredible and seems to have the original polish. This towel would be stunning hung on one of the tie backs I have listed---#546105, #546840, #546428. (It could even be used for a runner!)

Wonderful bobbin lace edged and lace insertions on each end adorn this linen and cotton Italian towel. It doesn't seem to have been used if at all. Sold as found.Measuring 44" x 28" including the 2 1/4" lace insertion and 2 1/2" border on each end! The monogram measures 4 1/2" x 3" . I just noticed, theres a faint stain on far right, that should disappear with washing.
