This is one of the oldest and finest pieces of its type. 44 inches long by 16.5 inches wide. A stunning Ersari ( beshir ) turkman jollar trapping. Fairly fine for an Ersari weaving, the colors are all vegetable dyes, no synthetics. Ivory, dark green, medium green, apricot, madder red, yellow, and blue. This unusual Squares and Circles Hooked Rug has tremendous dimensionality. The circles look as though they are behind the windowpanes. One way of looking at it has circles predominating; another way of seeing it allows the four point figures to come to the fore. Soft, muted tones of wool; 23 1/2" x 33"; New Hampshire origin. The design and color combinations in this 9' x 3' floral hooked rug are wonderful and are still bright, but more muted than the fresh colors on the reverse. No two things are alike in this rug except for the acanthus leaf inner border and the green leaf outer border.
