Dating to around 1890 / 1900, late Victorian or Edwardian, this a beautiful solid oak letter box with brass mounts to the top and front panel. The is a shield shaped mount to the centre of the lid with decorative initials engraved, which look to be J.J. or F.F., there is also a matching shield shaped escutcheon. An unusual pair of English lacquered knife boxes with extensive "mother of pearl" inlay depicting Birds of Paradise. They date to the mid 19th Century and are in excellant condition with all of the inlay intact. They have had the original knife slots removed and have been beautifully lined with a muted red velvet. The boxes measure 8.75" wide, 8.75" deep, and 14.5" high each.
