An American Federal period slant front desk, probably Middle Atlantic, circa 1800. The desk with a fitted interior with small drawers and dividers in cherry and maple hidden by the solid cherry lid, over a case with three long drawers. The base with a serpentine apron over four French feet. Condition: Very good. The hardware is a later replacement. Dimensions: Height 40", Depth 20", Width 39".

The graphic impact of this blanket box with paint decoration is absolutely stunning. It is swirl decorated in black over a yellowish-putty color, and virtually all the paint is intact. Adding to the special nature of this piece is its dainty size, measuring 31 inches long by 15 1/4 inches deep by 13 1/2 inches tall. Offered here is a delightful Chippendale drop leaf table dating to 1750-1780. The wood is walnut, the secondary woods used are white oak, pine and poplar. The table has ball and claw feet, cabriole legs, notched corners and scalloped apron. All knee returns are replacements.
