Hunzinger ebonized platform rocker with back and seat of rare fabric over brass, c1870. Hunzinger produced and patented his fabric wrapped brass to replace cane. Just after the Civil War, cane was scarce, and Hunzinger wanted something that would last forever. This could be one of the rarest, if not the rarest, examples of Hunzinger furniture because the rocker has a combination of hand painting and inlay. Stamped Hunzinger on the back rail. Pat.
