This is a Austrian rural style chest, a so called carved " Bauerntruhe " from Styria.
Softwood ( pine needle wood )
This piece from about 1750 originaly was only to open from upwards.
To make this nice piece more useable for everydays use, there recentely was made 2 doors into the front side of the chest.
These 2 doors are not visible, when they are closed.
Nice restored condition ! H : 33,5 inc. L : 55,5 inc. Deep : 21,5 inc.

A Fine And Rare 18th Century Miniature German Baroque Walnut Commode Circa 1750. The case has a serpentine shaped front with three drawers resting on four bun feet. The molded top has a central swirl grained walnut panel surrounded by a wide cross banded edge. The drawer fronts are also actively grained and crossbanded. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: Height 13", Depth 11 3/8", Width 18 1/4"

A Fine And Rare 18th century German Serpentine Bombe Commode circa 1780. The top and drawer fronts are inlaid with fruitwood parquetry. The case has a beautiful and subtle line. The apron is wonderfully shaped with drop scrolls. The chest has fine color and a warm patina. Condition is excellent. Dimensions: Height 10", Depth 9 3/4", Width 17".
