Here we have two rare CDV's, or CARTE-DE-VISITES from c1880. CDV #1 reveals a man in great pain. This CDV is titled TOOTHACHE. CDV #2 reveals the same man undergoing a dental extraction. This very rare item comes to us from the basement of Harrigan's Pharmacy, which was located in Reading, Ohio. Harrigan's Pharmacy opened for business in 1899 and closed about 18 years ago. THE CUDAHY PACKING COMPANY was located in SOUTH OMAHA. This bottle of CO-CAPSULIN ANTISEPTIC COCAINE SOLUTION is 3" tall. It is labeled FOR USE IN PAINLESS DENTISTRY. Victorian C. 1870-1900 Lovely Sterling Silver Baby Teether and Whistle. It has mother-of-pearl set into the sterling silver.
It is 4 1/4" in length and 2" across the hanging and dangling rattles. It is done by hand by a old experienced craftsman in the late 19th century. There is a resemblance of a mark but not decipherable. Not being a expert in baby rattles, I consider the condition of the item to be good. This high-grade cabinet photo shows dental students fooling around with anesthesia while attempting a mock procedure on one of their buddies at the local photography studio. This photograph was taken by CRADICK, 12 West Main Street, DANVILLE, INDIANA. They were probably dental students at INDIANA DENTAL COLLEGE, which was founded in 1879. The college was acquired by INDIANA UNIVERSITY in 1925. This fantastic photo is scalloped around the circumference, and dates to C1880. It is 6.5"x4.25".

Here we have a remedy that is dated 1900! It is unopened, and has a unique cork stopper. It also has a 32 page booklet. This fine old remedy has paper labels on the front and back and is embossed on both sides, as shown. The top flap of the box is missing. The bottle is 5" tall. THE F.A. This early trade card is an advertisement for the good dentist, Dr. Hill. One of his specialties appeared to be CELLULOID TEETH! The group had offices in Syracuse, NY., Chicago, Illinois, Cincinnati, Ohio, Reading, PA., Patterson, NJ., Binghamton, NY., Scranton, PA., Rochester, NY, Trenton, NJ., and Wilkesbarre, PA.. These offices were open ALL HOURS! The ALBANY DENTAL ASSOCIATION won first prize at the 1893 World's Fair in Cincinnati, Ohio. This fine trade card is 5.5"x3.75".
