This is a wonderful little Victorian antique sewing item. It is from the late 19th Century (1850-1890). The Tape Measure is turned and hand carved. The knob to turn the measuring tape is ivory. The base has a removable cap on the bottom. The red measuring tape is intact – all 18 plus inches of it is there – and clearly marked in black every inch.

This is a wonderful little Victorian antique sewing item. It is from the late 19th Century (1850-1890). The Pincushion is turned, hand carved and pierced. The cobalt blue velvet pincushion is hand sewn onto the vegetable ivory base. The base, which is pierced all over, has a removable cap on the bottom, and is filled with what I assume to be oiled wool to keep the needles sharp.

Antique Spool Knave Ivory Silver Knitters Chatelaine

The spool knave holds yarn at the waist for the knitter or craftswoman. The silver has the N of 18th century Nuremberg, Germany. Yarn is wound around the ivory spool. Perhaps some yarn could be inserted inside the ivory spool but that would be difficult. The silver is in excellent condition. The center part of the ivory spool is fine; the ends of the spool are pieced; I think it was made this way. The knave is 4" across and is about 6" long. This is a very unusual item.

This is a beautiful pair of paper scissors with gilded handles set with 7 turquoise each. /the steel blades are panted blue. They date early 19th century and are 4" long. I believe they are French and hand forged.

This is an ivory thimble in an ivory case shaped like an acorn. The case is 1 1/2" long and the thimble stands 3/4" tall. The thimble has concentric lines for the knurling. It is in fine condition. The thimble case appears older than the thimble.

This needle case has elegant allover carving of circles that look almost like small targets. It has a stanhope but I cannot read it; I think there is a beach scene and I think it is an English scene. The ivory is in good used condition; the top has a 1/2" line at the screw end and the bottom has a loss at the top which shows when you unscrew the top. It is 3 3/4" long.

This is a really nice green velvet sewing kit with cut-steel and marcasite mounts, within which is a complete kit- scissors, bodkin, needlecase, buttonhook, and ribbon threader, with nothing missing. No marks, but probably circa 1880, and possibly English. Great condition.
