Victorian Engraved Peacock Blue Glass Inkwell

A very nice Victorian inkwell in peacock blue glass. The front side is engraved with an ornate floral pattern. The lid has lapidary cutting around the edges and is engraved with the image of a dove in mid-flight and carrying a letter in its beak. Certainly, the suggestion is of a lovebird delivering a sentimental note! The lid is mounted with a brass hinge.

Very clear English inkwell in a strong beaded design. Hinged brass lid. The glass is thick and heavy with a few air bubbles. It measures 4" across the base and stands 3 3/8" tall. No damage or repairs. Nice collection piece or for that special place on a desk.

This B & H inkwell comes from an estate in Deland Florida.

Cast iron with gold gilt circa 1900's. The inkwell is 9" wide and 5" deep and 4.5" tall. The inserts are glass with a diamond point design and a swirl pattern on the lids. The inserts are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

French Faience Inkstand

Incorporating what must have been the lid a large 17th Century jar of Rouen faience, this handsome French inkstand is mounted in finely detailed antiqued bronze. Dating from around 1870, it is approximately 8-1/2 inches in diameter and five inches high. It is in excellent condition.

18th century brass desk standish, probably Dutch. Consists of stand that holds three pots. Two pots have lids. One lid has 4 large holes, probably for holding nibs. Another pot features small holes punched into the top, probably for powder used to dry the ink before the introduction of blotting paper. Unique and interesting accessory for any desk. Great for writers! Dimensions: (stand) 6" h x 6" w; (pots without lids) 2.25" h.
