This Victorian writing pencil possibly sterling. It has a small orange/red stone bezel set in the crown. The stone is probably carnelian which was one of the stones traditionally used in this type pencil. Circa 1900. Wonderful etching on this fine English pencil. The crown screws off to reveal storage for extra pencil leads. Also, the writing mechanism retracts. Nice piece to add to a pencil collection or to decorate a desk. 4 1/2" long.
