A fine and early Canadian East Coast native ash splint buttocks basket c1900 (or earlier). This basket stands 10-3/4" high with the handle and it measures 11-3/4" x 10-7/8" across the mouth; it is in excellent original condition with no damage or repairs other than a stained area with some minor losses on the interior bottom of the basket. Wonderful small olla of willow and devils claw with Wheels of Life, woven by the Yavapai Indians of Arizona in the early 20th Century.

The olla stands 10 1/2" tall and is 8 1/2" across the shoulder. Nice even weave with 5 coils and 18 stitches per inch.

Charming small handled box type basket Thompson River Salish. Bundle coils, imbricated overlay, cedar, spruce root, grasses and cherry bark. The handle is attached with soft leather thongs.

Dimensions are 6 3/4" long by 4" wide by 4" tall, six stitches and 2 1/2 coils per inch. Look like a little picnic basket or purse!
